SGU ARCS or Academic Research and Community Service is a forum for Swiss German University members to carry out researches and community service activities. SGU ARCS is under the coordination of the Deputy of Rector for Academic Affairs (Vice Rector I) starting in 2012. The development of SGU ARCS is a Swiss German University strategy for quality improvement and development of science, technology, arts, social and humanities, as well as business in tertiary institutions and its implementation in society, and at the same time facilitates the implementation of tridharma duties which include education, research, and community service.

SGU ARCS as a support work unit at Swiss German University, has the task of being a door that facilitates and coordinates institutionally collaborative research and community service activities in an effort to increase mutual synergy between the competence of Swiss German University academics and the community. ARCS SGU collaboration in the field of research and community service in the form of training, mentoring, and consultation has been well established with various partners, including research institutions, government, industry, private sector, BUMN, and other related institutions from within the country and abroad country. The existence of this collaboration is a manifestation of the high level of public trust as partners in the capabilities of SGU ARCS.

ARCS SGU collaboration in the field of research and community service in the form of research, empowerment, community training, and consultancy has been well established with various partners Research institutions, government, industry, private sector, BUMN, and social institutions from within the country and abroad . The continuation of this collaboration is a manifestation of the high level of public trust in the capabilities of SGU ARCS.

In accordance with the Tri Dharma of the Swiss German University (education, research and community service), the role of the Academic Research and Community Services (ARCS) of the Swiss German University internally and externally is:

  • Carry out two of the Tridharma of Higher Education, namely carrying out research and doing community service and encouraging the publication of the results of the implementation of the two activities.
  • The place for the application of science and technology is based on the needs of the community by the academic community of the Swiss German University directly to the wider, institutionalized and professional community through the scientific method.
  • Is one of the institutions at the Swiss German University whose task is to develop a research culture in higher education and encourage the utilization of the results to support the mission of higher education and national development in a sustainable manner.
  • Producing professional researchers from Swiss German University who are assets of the nation based on their knowledge and competence so that they can be of benefit to the nation and state.

Based on the assessment of Higher Education Research performance within the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2013 – 2015 period, research performance at Swiss German University reached the Primary level as of August 18, 2016 based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number: 2331/DRPM/TU/2016 concerning Assessment Results University Research Performance 2013-2015.
To maintain and improve this achievement, it is necessary to support institutional strengthening through the division of the Research Center for Novel and Creative Solutions in Business and Technology into the Research Center for Business and Entrepreneurship and Research Center for Technology and Innovation (Research Center for Technology and Innovation).
